Getting your very own traffic light circuit built may sound like a daunting task, but with the right knowledge and materials it's actually surprisingly simple. With just the right components, you can construct a working traffic light circuit in no time. So, don’t be intimidated, let’s dive into how to build a traffic light circuit!
To begin, you'll need to gather the necessary supplies: a breadboard, an Arduino microcontroller, 3 LEDs (red, yellow, green), 3 220 ohm resistors, and 10 jumper cables. You will then use the breadboard to create the circuit for the lights. The red, yellow, and green LEDs will be connected to pins on the Arduino, with the positive legs of each LED connected to one pin; the negative legs of each LED will be connected to a resistor, which will then connect to ground (GND). Finally, the 10 jumper cables will be used to connect the components.
Once you have everything set up, you’ll need to program the Arduino. This is done with code written in C++, which will tell the Arduino when to turn each light off and on. Once the code is uploaded, you'll be ready to go! Your traffic light circuit will be ready to control the flow of traffic - or even just light up your room!
Building a traffic light circuit may seem like a complex project. But with the right parts, a bit of knowledge, and some patience, anyone can get it up and running. Soon enough you'll be controlling the traffic (or just adding some fun lighting to your room) with your own custom-made traffic light circuit!
